
Anju Malhotra is vice president for social and economic development at the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW). A well-recognized authority on gender and development, Malhotra leads ICRW’s work in social, economic and demographic issues, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, adolescence, reproductive health and rights, and program evaluation.
Anju Malhotra’s work at ICRW centers on advancing programmatic and policy research on issues that intersect gender, population and development.
Malhotra leads ICRW’s partnership with the World Bank to evaluate the impact of women’s economic empowerment programs. She also manages ICRW’s strategic partnership with the NIKE Foundation to increase opportunities for and investment in adolescent girls.
She serves on numerous expert panels, advisory groups and review boards for various development actors including USAID, WHO and Johns Hopkins University, and provides expert insight for a variety of media outlets including USA Today and The Indianapolis Star.
Prior to joining ICRW in 1998, Malhotra served as a faculty member at the University of Maryland and was an NIH post-doctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina.
