Geeta Rao Gupta is president of ICRW. An internationally renowned expert on gender and development, Rao Gupta has more than 20 years of experience in women's health and is a leading global authority on women's role in development program.
Rao Gupta has been president of ICRW since 1997. Prior to becoming president, she held a number of positions with ICRW including consultant, researcher and officer. She is frequently consulted on issues related to AIDS prevention and women’s vulnerability to HIV and is a dynamic advocate for women’s economic and social empowerment to fight disease, poverty and hunger.
Rao Gupta served as co-chair of the U.N. Secretary General’s High Level Panel on Youth Employment and co-chaired the U.N. Millennium Project’s Task Force on Promoting Gender Equality and Empowering Women from 2002-2005. She also serves as an advisor to the UNAIDS Global Coalition on Women and AIDS.Rao Gupta was the recipient of the 2007 Washington Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” award and is frequently recognized for her commitment to quality research and dedication to the protection and fulfillment of women’s human rights

Ph.D. in social psychology from Bangalore University, India; M.Phil., M.A. and B.A. in psychology from University of Delhi.
