Research and Evaluation Manager
Population and Social Transitions Team
ICRW seeks a research and evaluation manager to lead technical work on two key ICRW initiatives: the Strategic and Measurement Support to the Nike Foundation; and Evidence Building for the Coalition on Adolescent Girls (CAG).
The incumbent will function as both a leader and team member, and will have substantial research, technical and project management responsibility. She/he will conduct and manage a range of technical research; coordinate project teams and their work; and support the project director in larger strategic thinking and donor/partner relations.
Primary Duties:
- Create and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks, and conceptualize and operationalize indicators;
- Develop literature reviews, analyzing primary and secondary data;
- Draft sharp and comprehensive syntheses based on data analysis;
- Write high-quality reports and other outputs;
- Oversee M&E activities and data management relating to Nike Foundation grantees, and provide and coordinate technical support to grantees;
- Work with project director on the Nike Foundation and CAG projects to strategize, plan and implement project activities, staffing, budgets, timelines and workplans;
- Manage day-to-day project activities for the Nike Foundation and CAG projects, including delegating to and coordinating work with project staff;
- Assist in the development of effective strategies for generating and mobilizing data and results to achieve the ultimate goals of the Nike Foundation and CAG projects;
- Play a significant role in partner and donor management;
- Coordinate the synthesis and analysis of M&E data, products and insights for routine discussions with Nike Foundation program officers, and periodic reporting back to the Nike Foundation;
- Interact with donors and partners at formal and informal occasions, and present ICRW’s contributions and perspectives.
Required Education, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in sociology, demography, economics, public health or related discipline;
- Minimum of eight years of experience with a master's, or five years of experience with Ph.D., working on gender as it relates to population, reproductive health, poverty and broader development issues;
- Significant experience with project management and donor/partner relations;
- Experience with corporate sector and adolescent issues preferred;
- Understanding of evaluation principles, and experience with evaluation and research work for use in shaping strategic direction and advocacy activities;
- Ability to translate research and evaluation data into accessible formats for non-research audiences;
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of producing high quality deliverables in a timely fashion;
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively, including staffing, workplans, deliverables, timelines and budgets;
- Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively and diplomatically with a range of external and internal colleagues, including donors, partners and team members;
- Strategic thinking and negotiation skills to help shape a strong agenda for moving forward ICRW's and partners' work on adolescent girls;
- Computer literacy, including a strong proficiency in standard business applications (MS Office Suite); and
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including a proficiency in one or more of the following statistical software programs: SPSS, STATA or ATLAS; and widely-known research measures (e.g., ARRM or HBM).
