March 3, 2025 – Representatives of ICRW’s leadership, research and advocacy teams will be attending the 69th session of the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) from March 10-21 in New York City. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform and Platform for Action, which embodies the commitment of the international community to achieve gender equality and to provide better opportunities for women and girls.

The annual meeting is an opportunity for global and domestic stakeholders to convene as a community, evaluate gender equity and women’s rights gaps and commitments, and identify solutions to uphold, protect and expand the rights of women and girls. This year’s meeting holds particular significance as many leaders and governments are actively dismantling programs, structures, and policies that have reduced discrimination and advanced the rights and opportunities for women over the last three decades.

ICRW’s team will be on the ground for both public and private events focused on reproductive rights, feminist foreign policies, advancing the rights of girls and building political will to support gender equity among other topics central to our mission. The organization will:

    • Host a panel at Foreign Policy’s Her Power Summit featuring our VITAL research project and lessons learned from the abortion rights movement in Latin America and the United States
    • Co-host a session with Amplify Girls & Girls Agency Lab Consulting, Population Council and the Office of the Women’s Rights Advisor in the Executive Office of the President, Kenya on measuring what matters: Enhancing programs with locally generated data through the Adolescent Girls Agency Survey
    • Join the Women’s Major Group, NGO CSW, UN Women to discuss the rollout and implementation of the United Nations Gender Equality Acceleration Plan and commitments to advancing the rights of women and girls in the multilateral system
    • Co-sponsor the Feminist Foreign Policy Progressive Voices Collective event titled Redrawing the Lines of Foreign Policy Through Feminism

“This year’s CSW is more critical than ever. ICRW is honored to lead conversations that will tackle today’s most pressing gender equity challenges. We have participated in CSW for decades and will continue to bring our unique perspective as a research institution to advance solutions for women and girls in all of their diversity at this important moment. We look forward to working with our partners to map out a future where the people we serve will live healthy and fulfilling lives.” said Ann Warner, ICRW Interim CEO.
